Before you hit the road, take a minute to read a few tips that can help keep you safe while you ride.
Experts believe that safe riding begins with wearing a helmet. We agree.
Don’t have one? We’ve partnered with Pro-Tec & Evo Cycles to help you get a great deal on their helmets.
We work with local city councils to encourage and educate safe riding behaviour - all with the goal of keeping people safe. Here's what we suggest you do:
JUMP’s technicians perform thorough inspections to help ensure that each scooter is fit for riding, but it’s important to always check that tyres are in good condition, lights are turned on, and brakes operate correctly before you ride.
Always brake early and gradually – especially when going downhill. There is also a step brake above the rear tyre.
Ride in the direction of traffic on the safest path or road, signal if you’re planning to change directions, and come to a complete stop at red lights and stop signs. Always give-way to pedestrians and limit one Rider per scooter.
Ride within your limits. Stay focused and alert, avoid riding in other vehicles’ blind spots, and be aware of your surroundings. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Finished riding? Park inside the JUMP zone shown on the map in your app, and be aware of no-parking areas. Make sure you’re looking out for others and never leave your scooter blocking walkways or accessibility ramps.
Do not ride scooters down steep hills. High speed can overpower the electric brake causing loss of control. Use the rear foot brake to control speed. Always get off & walk down steep hills.
